We started Winkler Web Design because of a simple, annoying pattern. A small business pays somebody every month for a website that does not bring in customers. The owner cannot get a straight answer about what the money buys. The website cannot be moved, or updated, or even found on Google.

That pattern is common enough to be a business model. We would rather be the other kind of shop.

The whole idea: a website that is fast and clearly about your business, with the owner in control of their own domain and content, tell them what things cost before we start, and stay around afterwards to keep it working.

Plain language. Short sentences. No jargon used to make a small job sound like a big one.

We write things down. If we agree to something on a call, it ends up in writing, because memory is a bad place to keep a promise.

We say when we do not know. "I do not know yet, I will find out" is a real answer, and it is a better one than a confident guess.

We measure instead of claiming. If we say a page loads quickly, we have timed it. If we say something improved, we can show you the before and the after.

We do not name our clients in marketing without asking them first. Their business is theirs.

• We will not lock you in. You own your domain, your content and your website. No hostage hosting, no exit fees, no "your site stops working if you leave".
• We will not pad the bill. Every project is itemized and quoted before work starts.
• We will not use dark patterns. No fake countdowns, no false scarcity, no invented reviews, no pretending a design is a limited offer.
• We will not promise you first place on Google. Nobody can promise that. We will tell you what we can measure, and what we cannot.
• We will not put third-party trackers on your site. No advertising pixels, no selling your visitors' data.
• We will not invent your business. No made-up years in business, no made-up staff counts, no stock photographs passed off as your work.

We are based in Winkler and we work across the Pembina Valley: Winkler, Morden, Altona, Carman, Plum Coulee, Schanzenfeld, Roland and the surrounding rural municipalities.

Most of the work is done remotely and that is fine, because a website is not a thing that needs a truck. What matters is that we know the market, we know the seasons, and when you want to talk to a person you can reach one.

• Fast by default. No heavyweight page builders, no web fonts that make a phone wait, no scripts that exist only to track people.
• Accessible by default. Colour contrast that passes the usual readability standards, real headings, visible keyboard focus, and a design that works when someone is reading it in bright sunlight on an old phone.
• Honest by default. No claim on any page of this site that we cannot back up with a measurement or a receipt.
